Who Is A Virtual Assistant?
Who is a Virtual Assistant? A virtual assistant (VA) is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from a home office.
Working as a Virtual Assistant is truly liberating. I have been a Virtual Assistant (VA) since 2011. My basic tasks include creating and managing social media accounts for clients. I help my clients build their online presence and appear on the top pages of Google search based on the keywords relevant to their businesses. I also create websites for clients. Managing social media accounts and creating a website have different rates since creating a website is more complex.
Too much about that, all I can say is that I couldn’t imagine myself doing a different job. It is my passion, to help people build their online presence. 🙂
Being a Virtual Assistant (VA) has also its pros and cons. For the first two years of my career as a VA, I’ve worked under a company. But after I gave birth to my second child, things have changed. I decided to work from home. That was one of the best decisions I’ve made. 🙂
One of the advantages of WFH is you got to have more time with your family.
The disadvantage is that sometimes or more often, working from home can be a huge distraction. Life happens, and it happens a lot at home. There are many household chores like doing the laundry, cooking, getting the kids ready for school, etc. One of the most important thing is you know how to balance your time – time management.
Another advantage is you can be your own boss BUT because you are the boss, you have full responsibility for the entire business. You have to take care of all the little details and perform the tasks you have been hired for. Sometimes, it can be a little overwhelming.
For aspiring VA’s and for those who are just starting their career as a Virtual Assistant, my advice is that don’t forget to do your best in every task that you do. Be pro-active, honest, reliable, and responsible. Value your client. The most important thing is to love your job.
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
